The Design Process

Our design process and tools are there to help you along the way. Depending on what service you’re ordering the process changes a bit. Once you purchase a premade cover or you give us the green light to book you into our calendar for custom work, the following happens…

Premade Book Covers:

Once you purchase the cover of your choice we will contact you with your invoice and an online form to fill out with all of the information we need to get started. Once both are returned we will begin the design process. Four rounds of revisions are included with each premade book cover order on the text portions. Changes beyond that (additional text changes or changes to design elements) will be quoted and billed at our hourly rate.

Your files once completed will be delivered to you in high-resolution .jpg for eBooks (1567px x 2500px 300DPI) & for Print Wraps (for Createspace) files are delivered in .jpg, .png and .pdf formats. Please note we never release our PSD or design files due to copyright and licensing with the photographers and stock websites. Only final files will be delivered.

Custom Book Covers, Print Designs & Author Logos:

If you contact us for custom work on a cover, logo, or another custom project we will ask you several questions during your consultation, and then give you a quote. Once a project is agreed upon we send your down payment invoice to you so we can begin once it’s paid. Note: Depending on the size of your project, down payments can be anywhere from 50% down to 33% down. If your project is under $500.00 we bill for the total to begin. We  also will contact you with an online form to fill out with all your information we need to get started.

This is essentially homework for you. I know, I know, you’re thinking homework? But these forms are important tools we use throughout the design process to gain a good insight into your project and style preferences. We will help you through this section so you can stay organized, this is one of the most important steps in the process. We can not go forward without this information so it’s vital. Once we have your payment and your homework we can begin. Please see our FAQs page for timelines and expected turnarounds as these change frequently depending on our schedule.

All custom design includes unlimited rounds of revisions within the scope of the original quoted design project. For example, if you ask us to design an apple, and then later decide you want a unicorn, that will be quoted as a new design and billed at our hourly rate.
